Petition Filed for Court Oversight in Disha Salian Case, Hearing Scheduled for November 18

A petition has been filed for court oversight in the Disha Salian case, citing slow investigation and lack of arrests.

Mumbai, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Questions are being raised again regarding the slow pace of the investigation into the death of Disha Salian and the lack of arrests. Nilesh Ojha, Disha’s lawyer, has submitted a petition to the Killa Court, requesting that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conduct its inquiry under judicial supervision. The next hearing is set for November 18.

Ojha expressed concerns about the delays in the investigation and the sluggishness of the CBI’s actions. He emphasized the need for court oversight to ensure that the agency reports its progress and actions. According to Ojha, the CBI should be required to submit a status report, as several crucial steps have yet to be taken, including the failure to arrest Aditya Thackeray and the lack of recorded statements from witnesses identified by his side.

He stated that if any deficiencies in the investigation are found, the court could direct the CBI to act according to legal standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Supreme Court guidelines. The next date for this application is set for November 18.

Additionally, Satish Salian, Disha’s father, has reached out to all members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, as well as President Droupadi Murmu, urging them to raise the issue both inside and outside Parliament. In his letter, he questioned the delay in arresting influential suspects despite claims of evidence related to an alleged gang rape and murder. He alleged a disparity in the pace of action against ordinary citizens compared to high-profile accused individuals.

Ojha mentioned that the High Court’s order contained facts related to the case that he referred to as a mini charge sheet. Based on this order, approximately 30 arrests should have already occurred. Satish Salian has also provided additional evidence, including a pen drive and recorded witness statements. Ojha claimed that 11 eyewitnesses have been identified by the CBI, yet no arrests have been made to date.

He has called on citizens nationwide to join a march to the CBI office, demanding answers regarding the lack of arrests of Aditya Thackeray and other accused individuals despite available evidence and witness information. Ojha reiterated the need for a swift investigation and accountability.
