Ahmedabad, March 4: Passengers arriving from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, were warmly welcomed at Terminal 2 of Ahmedabad International Airport on Wednesday. Family members and well-wishers gathered at the airport to celebrate their return, expressing gratitude to the government for ensuring their safe journey home despite recent travel disruptions.
Many travelers had gone to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. However, due to escalating tensions related to the Israel-Iran conflict, several return flights scheduled for February 28 were canceled, causing distress for families.
A family member shared with a news agency, “My sister went for Umrah. Her return flight on the 28th was canceled, and she was very worried. We appealed to the government for help, and the authorities assisted in bringing her back safely. This is a moment of immense joy for our family.”
Another relative stated, “My son went to Mecca for Umrah. His flight was also canceled on February 28. The media and government were very supportive. The officials were very cooperative.”
A third family member expressed, “The past few days were challenging, but we are grateful to the government. Thank you, Modi Ji.”
According to media reports, severe explosions occurred in Tehran following missile attacks by Israel against Iran on February 28, dramatically increasing regional tensions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that Iran deliberately targets civilians while Israel and the United States focus on “collective terrorists,” defending recent military actions and praising U.S. President Donald Trump’s “resolve.”
Before deciding on military action against Iran, President Trump had reiterated at least 74 times that Tehran must not possess nuclear weapons.
The White House stated on Monday that President Trump has consistently maintained for decades that Iran should never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. They released a compilation of his statements dating back to November 2011, covering a span of 15 years.
