New Delhi, April 6 : The Constitution (Schedule Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2022 was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday with voice vote. The Bill amends the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 and includes the Darlong comm ty as a sub-tribe of the Kuki tribe in the list of STs in Tripura. Responding to the debate on the Bill, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh Saruta said Tripura has 19 chief tribes and Darlong comm ty is a sub tribe of Kuki tribe. She assured that the Tribal Ministry has been continuously working and the inclusion of Darlong comm ty into Schedule Tribes (ST) at par with the Kuki will allow the comm ty to take the benefits provided to the STs in the country.
