Pakistani Army Accused of Executing Five Baloch, Four Still Missing: Human Rights Organization

Quetta, April 18: The plight of local residents in Balochistan continues as reports emerge of severe abuses by the Pakistani Army. A prominent social and human rights organization has claimed that the military recently executed five Baloch individuals without any legal proceedings, while four others remain missing.

The Baloch United Committee (BUC) reported that the body of 17-year-old student Hatim Baloch was found riddled with bullets on April 16. He had allegedly been abducted by the Frontier Corps from the Paroom area of Panjgur district approximately 11 days prior.

Condemning this brutal murder, the BUC stated, “The government has drenched Balochistan in blood. It is thirsty for the blood of Baloch people. Whenever the government feels emboldened, it spills Baloch blood without fear or restraint. Those who dare to question are imprisoned and silenced. Drone attacks are carried out on ordinary citizens, leading to deaths and creating an atmosphere of fear to keep people silent.”

On the same day, another incident revealed that the Pakistani Army killed four Baloch individuals in a staged encounter, delivering their bodies in a deplorable state to Panjgur Hospital, claiming they were killed in retaliation.

Expressing deep concern over human rights violations in Balochistan, the rights organization stated, “The murder of Baloch individuals, especially in fake encounters (those who have previously been disappeared), has taken on a ruthless systematic form of Baloch genocide. In the Panjgur district alone, nearly 40 Baloch youths have been brutally killed and their mutilated bodies discarded in the last three months.”

Highlighting the atrocities against ordinary people in Balochistan, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement condemned the forced abduction of two Baloch youths by the Pakistani Army in Panjgur as part of a disturbing trend.

According to reports, personnel from the Frontier Corps raided the home of Dad Muhammad, taking his son Abdul Wahid Dad and another individual, Ashfaq Adam, into custody. Following their arrest, both were forcibly disappeared, with their whereabouts unknown. Additionally, 19-year-old Baloch youth Ali Asghar was forcibly taken from his home in the Jiwani area of Gwadar district during a raid by Pakistani Military Intelligence on April 16.

Furthermore, 19-year-old student Mehraj was kidnapped on April 12 by personnel from Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) near the Children’s Hospital in the provincial capital Quetta.

The rights body expressed grave concern for Mehraj’s safety since his abduction, leaving his family in distress.
