Islamabad, March 24 : Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday warned members of his party that “switching parties won’t do them any good”, saying that “turncoats must remember that early elections are also a possibility”, Dawn reported. Rashid made these remarks at a press conference in Islamabad where he talked about the upcoming no-trust vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has been besieged with defection of nearly two dozen party MNA’s and several allies to the opposition camp on the no-confidence issue. The PTI turncoats who are led by lawmaker Jahangir Tareen have demanded that incumbent Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar who was firmly standing with Imran Khan, be removed from office. Another close friend of Imran Khan, Aleem Khan, also joined the Tareen group, assailing that the Imran Khan government in the Centre and the Usman Buzdar-led Punjab government had “completely failed to fulfil its mandate and bring about the promised change”. Rashid further claimed that there was a likelihood that some opposition members will not go to parliament on the day of the no-trust vote, asserting that these members were “responsible”, and that they understood that it would be “better” if PM Imran completed his tenure than early elections being called. He also appealed to the dissident lawmakers to return to the PTI, assuring them that they would not be questioned and also suggested that they visit their constituencies and consult their voters on what they thought about their decision.
