Opposition Parties Criticize CM Yogi Adityanaths Remarks on Cows
Opposition leaders in Uttar Pradesh respond sharply to CM Yogi Adityanaths comments about cows, calling them a political tool for the BJP.

Lucknow, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh has intensified following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent remarks regarding cows. He stated that those who refer to cows as mere animals are victims of “animal intelligence.” This comment sparked immediate backlash from leaders of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress.
A spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party, Ameer Jamai, criticized the BJP’s stance, asserting that for the ruling party, cows are merely a means to garner votes and incite communal tensions. He questioned the government’s priorities, stating, “The most cow slaughter has occurred under Yogi Adityanath’s administration. How long will this continue? The public did not elect you to focus on cows one day, Pakistan the next, and Muslims another.”
Jamai further emphasized the lack of policies to address pressing issues such as unemployment and farmer support, raising concerns about investment in the state.
Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput also weighed in on the controversy. He affirmed the cultural significance of cows in India, saying, “Cows are revered as our mothers. There is no disagreement on this.” He accused BJP leaders of viewing cows merely as animals, referencing comments from party officials in West Bengal and Assam regarding cow slaughter.
In response to Adityanath’s remarks about the need for vigilance against those who threaten religious sentiments, Congress leader Udit Raj labeled the BJP government as “anti-Ram.” He alleged that individuals involved in financial misconduct are shielded while those who disrespect religious sentiments are overlooked.
The exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions in Uttar Pradesh as opposition parties challenge the ruling BJP’s narrative on cultural and communal issues.
