Bengaluru, April 1: OnePlus is revisiting its original strategy in India. This shift does not involve launching just one or two flagship phones annually. Instead, it focuses on altering its sales channels. Reports indicate that OnePlus plans to close nearly all of its offline sales outlets. The company has instructed its partner-run exclusive stores in India to cease operations. However, its own exclusive stores in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai are expected to remain operational.
According to a report from MoneyControl, OnePlus will significantly reduce its offline presence starting April 1, 2026. The brand aims to sell exclusively through Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) online channels, including its own website and Amazon India. Amazon played a crucial role in OnePlus’s early growth in the Indian market.
This shift in retail strategy is likely intended to enhance product margins and strengthen customer relationships. While the impact on overall sales remains uncertain, it may take time for OnePlus to regain market share with an exclusively online approach. Additionally, OnePlus has announced plans to expand its company-owned service centers through OPPO’s infrastructure, increasing from 400 to 600 locations effective April 1, 2026. This move aims to improve consumer connectivity.
