OBC Reservation, domicile & language row are only political issues: CM

Ranchi, Mar 7 : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday said that OBC reservation, domicile policy and language row are only political issues in the state. Replying during the Chief Minister’s question hour he said that everyone knows what the previous governments have done on these matters but his government was very serious over solving the issues. Over a question of increasing OBC reservation in Jharkhand raised by AJSU MLA Lambodar Mahto he said earlier OBCs in Jharkhand use to get 27 percent reservation which was reduced to 14 percent and who did that is known to all. He said that government is studying the model of Maharashtra and Tamilnadu over how they have increased the OBC reservation after which as per the legal provisions decision will be taken. AJSU MLA Sudesh Kumar Mahto raised the issue of formation of a displacement commission over which the Chief Minister said that displacement is a big issue in the state however he said that it was not a new issue and people have been battling the same over the last 50 years. The chief minister said that the state government will soon take a decision for formation of the displacement commission. On the issue of inclusion of Hindi language in the list of regional languages of the state which was raised by BJP MLA Kushwaha Sashi Bhushan Mehta. the Chief Minister said that language row, OBC reservation and domicile policy all have become political issues. Hemant said that in paper one Hindi and English have been included and it is compulsory to pass in them. He said that when Hindi and English are already included then why it should be again used as a regional language. The chief minister said that Hindi has not been removed but only participation of locals is being ensured. The questions raised by Congress MLAs Umashankar Akela and Amba Prasad were not related to policy matters therefore the Chief Minister did not reply over the questions. As a custom whenever the assembly is in session MLAs get an opport ty to ask policy matter related questions from the Chief Minister directly in the house. AK BM
