Chennai, March 7: Former Chief Minister and senior leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), O. Panneerselvam (OPS), expressed his admiration for Chief Minister MK Stalin during a merger event marking his joining the DMK. He stated that the DMK has embraced him like a mother, and he is now committed to working under Stalin’s leadership.
OPS remarked, “Our mother party, the DMK, has welcomed us with open hearts. I sincerely thank Chief Minister MK Stalin, who is ready to lead us to continuous victories. I also welcome all the ministers and party officials present here.”
Reflecting on his 50 years in politics, he emphasized that he has always adhered to honesty and integrity. He noted that despite facing legal battles, he has never backed down, and now Stalin stands by him to provide guidance.
He criticized those who are arrogant and repeatedly face defeat, stating that such individuals will not only face eight to ten losses but will continue to fail throughout their lives, as they go against Dravidian principles. He proudly mentioned that he has joined the mother party of the Dravidian movement as a simple worker, which brings him great joy.
Referencing M.G. Ramachandran, OPS said, “There is no fragrance in the garden of change.” He praised Stalin, highlighting that he embodies the self-respect of Periyar, the understanding of Anna, the leadership qualities of Karunanidhi, and the grace of Jayalalithaa. OPS acknowledged that his joining the DMK has stirred anger and unease among some individuals.
In his praise for the Chief Minister, he noted that Stalin has provided good governance over the past five years, addressing the needs of the people and emerging as one of India’s best Chief Ministers. OPS mentioned the state’s infrastructure development, various schemes, and the national recognition received.
In conclusion, OPS stated, “From now on, not just us, but all of Tamil Nadu will work hard to re-elect Stalin as Chief Minister and ensure victory for the DMK.”
