New Delhi, May 18: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in New Delhi against the NEET paper leak, demanding a ban on the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Protesters questioned the minister, asking who would answer for the sleepless nights of students and the shattering of their dreams. They expressed concern that if exam papers are sold in the market, the integrity of studying honestly will be lost.
The NSUI representatives stated that every year, the NTA faces allegations of paper leaks, affecting millions of students. They highlighted that students dedicate a year to preparation, only to find out that the exam paper has been compromised. This situation places immense financial pressure on families, and in some tragic cases, students have resorted to suicide due to the stress caused by such incidents. They insisted that the NTA should be banned and that the Education Minister should resign.
Another protester echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the NEET papers were leaked in 2021, 2024, and 2026. They called for the arrest of the main conspirators behind these leaks, pointing out that four students had taken their own lives, and the Education Minister should take responsibility and step down.
They further noted that the ongoing paper leaks have led to severe mental stress among students. The protesters claimed that the Education Minister’s spirit is broken, as students preparing for exams are pushed to the brink of despair.
In a unique protest in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, NSUI activists distributed ‘Jhalmuri’ to highlight the NEET paper leak issue. They criticized the BJP administration for its perceived weakness, stating that the youth today are forced to sell snacks due to a lack of job opportunities. They labeled the current government as entirely anti-student and anti-youth.
