Notorious Jharkhand Gangster Sujit Sinha Killed in Police Encounter

Ranchi, August 3: Notorious gangster Sujit Sinha was killed in a police encounter late Sunday night in Jamtara district, Jharkhand. Official police sources have confirmed the incident.

According to preliminary reports, Sinha was being transferred from Sahibganj district jail to Dhanbad jail when he allegedly seized a police officer’s weapon and attempted to flee, leading to a retaliatory response from the police. The prisoner transport vehicle was passing through Jamtara when Sinha requested to use the restroom. The vehicle was stopped, during which he reportedly grabbed a police officer’s firearm and opened fire while trying to escape.

The police responded, resulting in Sinha being critically injured, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Following the incident, a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and senior police officials arrived at the site. An investigation has been initiated, and a detailed official statement from the police is awaited.

Sujit Sinha hailed from the Medininagar area in Palamu district. He had over 50 criminal cases registered against him, including murder, extortion, and kidnapping. Over the past two decades, he established an active crime network across various districts in Jharkhand, including Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, and Hazaribagh.

Police records indicate that he began his criminal career with the notorious Sushil Srivastava gang. Later, he formed his own gang and built a network for extorting money from coal traders, contractors, builders, and other businessmen.

According to investigative agencies, despite spending a long time in prison, he continued to operate his gang through associates. In recent years, the Jharkhand police launched several operations against his gang, resulting in the arrest of many individuals connected to his network.
