New Delhi, May 7: The police in New Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur area apprehended a notorious criminal during a police encounter on Tuesday night. The suspect has been identified as Sunil, also known as Shetty or Deva, who is reportedly involved in multiple criminal cases.
According to police reports, the operation took place near DDA Park at around 10 PM on Wednesday. The action was overseen by ACP Badarpur, Akash Agarwal, while the Pul Prahladpur police team executed the operation.
Police received a tip-off about Sunil’s arrival in the area, prompting the team to set a trap for his capture. During the operation, the suspect fired at the police, who retaliated in self-defense, injuring him in the left leg. He was subsequently arrested in a wounded condition.
Officials stated that 50-year-old Sunil has an extensive criminal history, having been active in the crime world since 1999. He faces 16 criminal charges, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act. He has been convicted in various cases seven times and has pending cases registered against him in several police stations, including Kalkaji, Okhla Industrial Area, and Tilak Marg.
Sunil was wanted in cases of robbery and attempted culpable homicide. During the encounter, police recovered a country-made pistol, cartridges, and a stolen mobile phone from him. His long criminal record includes numerous charges and convictions.
The police confirmed that at the time of his arrest, Sunil was the main accused in a robbery and attempted culpable homicide case registered at the Pul Prahladpur police station. Currently, law enforcement is engaged in further legal proceedings against him.
