Nominations for Padma Awards 2027 Open from March 15 to July 31

New Delhi, March 15: The nomination process for the Padma Awards 2027, which will be announced on Republic Day, has officially begun on March 15, 2026. The final date for submitting nominations is July 31, 2026. Nominations for the Padma Awards will only be accepted online through the national awards portal, awards.gov.in.

The Padma Awards, which include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, are among the highest civilian honors in the country. Established in 1954, these awards are announced annually on Republic Day and are given for ‘distinguished service’ across various fields. They recognize exceptional achievements in areas such as arts, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, business, and industry.

All individuals are eligible for these awards, regardless of caste, profession, position, or gender. However, employees of public sector undertakings, including government officials, are not eligible, with the exception of doctors and scientists.

The government is committed to making the Padma Awards a ‘people’s award.’ Therefore, all citizens are encouraged to submit nominations, including self-nominations. Efforts should be made to identify talented individuals whose excellence and achievements truly deserve recognition. These individuals may include women, members of marginalized communities, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and persons with disabilities who are selflessly serving society.

Nominations must include all relevant information in the format available on the portal, clearly outlining the nominee’s exceptional achievements or services in their respective fields.

For detailed information, please visit the Ministry of Home Affairs website at mha.gov.in under the ‘Awards and Medals’ section, and the Padma Awards portal at padmaawards.gov.in.
