New Delhi, August 31: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three additional suspects in connection with the IED blast that occurred at the Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh. With these arrests, the total number of individuals apprehended in this case has risen to six.
The explosion took place on January 1, 2026, around 9:40 AM, near the outer wall adjacent to the room of the investigating officer within the police station premises.
Initially, the incident was registered as an FIR at the Nalagarh police station. The investigation was later handed over to the NIA. On May 8, 2026, the NIA re-registered the case and commenced an inquiry under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
During the investigation, the NIA uncovered the involvement of three additional suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandola, a resident of Mohalla Sirhindia, Rahon, District SBS Nagar (Punjab); Karan Pratap, also from Mohalla Rota, Rahon, District SBS Nagar (Punjab); and Diljot Saini, a resident of Jhansi Park Colony, Nawanshahr Road, Rahon, District SBS Nagar (Punjab).
The NIA reported that all three suspects were already arrested in another case registered under FIR number 11/2026 at the Garhshankar police station in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab.
Previously, the NIA had also arrested Mahavir Kumar alias Kaka, Ajay Mehra, and Manpreet Singh alias Mani. These individuals were initially detained by the Punjab police in connection with an FIR registered at the SSOCC in Mohali, after which the NIA took them into custody for their involvement in the Nalagarh blast case.
According to the NIA, the recent arrests are part of an ongoing investigation aimed at uncovering the larger conspiracy behind this terrorist attack, identifying all individuals involved, and tracing the entire network and its connections.
The agency is now conducting further inquiries to determine the exact roles of the suspects, their interconnections, other potential suspects involved in the conspiracy, and the overall criminal network.
The NIA has stated that the investigation is ongoing, with a thorough examination of all aspects to expose the full conspiracy behind the blast.
