Beijing, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : The National Development and Reform Commission of China has announced new regulations for foreign investment, set to take effect on December 1, 2026. These regulations, which were released on October 22, aim to provide improved institutional guarantees for the development and security of foreign investments. They will replace the previous guidelines issued in 2017.

The new measures focus on promoting high-quality development of outbound investments while safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of investors. Additionally, they aim to protect national sovereignty, security, and developmental interests.

Comprising 76 articles organized into six chapters, the new regulations cover general provisions, guidance and services for foreign investment, supervision of foreign investments, protection of foreign investments, legal liabilities, and supplementary provisions. While maintaining policy continuity, these regulations have been adapted to align with current conditions and include three key revisions compared to the earlier guidelines.
