New Delhi, April 23: The Indian Army’s hospitals are continuously embracing modern technology. In this initiative, the Cantonment General Hospital in New Delhi has launched a Robotic Orthopedic System. This new system is regarded as a significant technological achievement for the hospital.
With this technology, bone-related surgeries can now be performed with greater precision. Patients can expect reduced pain, quicker recovery times, and improved outcomes. This innovative approach will particularly assist doctors in handling complex cases. Over the next three months, plans are underway to establish a dialysis center, set up a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), upgrade the ICU, and expand laboratory facilities.
Additionally, there are plans to introduce several major services within the next year. These will include a Pediatric ICU for children and a Neonatal ICU for newborns. The hospital will also expand its diagnostic capabilities with CT scans and MRIs, as well as introduce a cancer screening unit, a high-dependency unit, a multi-specialty ward, and a surgical ICU.
These new facilities will directly benefit residents living in the cantonment area, as well as those in nearby urban regions. They will now have access to better, faster, and more modern medical treatments locally, reducing their reliance on larger hospitals.
Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh inaugurated the Robotic Orthopedic System and a maternity operation theater at the Cantonment General Hospital on Thursday. Senior officials, including the Director General of Defense Estates, Shobha Gupta, were also present at the event. According to the Defense Secretary, modernizing healthcare services in military cantonment areas is essential. He noted that the government is consistently working towards providing high-quality medical facilities for the public.
He emphasized that such initiatives simplify people’s lives and enhance trust in healthcare services. The Director General of Defense Estates praised this initiative, stating that it would strengthen healthcare systems in cantonment areas and provide improved facilities for residents. The maternity operation theater has been designed to ensure safe and comprehensive care for pregnant women, equipped with modern tools and facilities for safer delivery-related surgeries.
During this event, the Defense Secretary was also briefed on the ongoing development projects at the hospital. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards transforming the Cantonment Hospital into a modern and superior healthcare center, ultimately benefiting thousands of people with better medical care in the future.
