National Womens Commission Holds Hearing in Dehradun Addressing Domestic Violence and Support Issues
The National Womens Commission held a hearing in Dehradun, addressing domestic violence, education, and support issues faced by women.

Dehradun, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The National Women’s Commission, led by Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, conducted a public hearing in Dehradun to address women’s issues and grievances. During the session, various cases emerged, including those related to domestic violence, child education, maintenance, live-in relationships, breach of trust, and other forms of violence. A total of 27 cases were heard, with some resolved on the spot. For cases requiring immediate action, directives were issued to the relevant authorities.
Rahatkar noted that this hearing was part of a larger two-day program organized by the Commission in Uttarakhand. Women presented their challenges and obstacles directly to the Commission, which took their complaints seriously and committed to taking necessary steps for resolution.
The majority of the grievances focused on domestic violence, with women also highlighting associated issues. Many reported that their children’s education was being negatively impacted and that they were not receiving the necessary support for child maintenance. Questions about family dynamics and child welfare were also raised. Additionally, cases related to live-in relationships and breach of trust were brought to light, along with several civil matters and complaints of physical violence.
Rahatkar emphasized that the problems presented by women varied widely, and efforts were made to address each case individually. The Commission instructed relevant parties to take action based on the nature of the complaints.
Several cases were resolved during the hearing, while others that could not be immediately addressed were directed for prompt action. The primary goal of the National Women’s Commission is to listen to women’s issues and take essential steps toward their resolution.
