Namdhari FC and Dempo SC Settle for a 1-1 Draw in IFL 2025-26 Match

Margao, April 3: In a thrilling encounter at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Namdhari FC and Dempo SC played to a 1-1 draw in the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 on Thursday. Namdhari FC’s defense showcased remarkable resilience throughout the match.

Dempo SC started strong, taking the lead in the 9th minute. Captain Marcus Joseph converted a penalty, awarded after a foul by a Namdhari defender inside the box, putting his team ahead 1-0. Following the goal, Dempo maintained aggressive pressure, creating several opportunities for a second goal. However, Namdhari’s goalkeeper Neeraj Kumar delivered an outstanding performance, making crucial saves to keep his team in the game.

Despite the mounting pressure, Namdhari did not give up. In the 31st minute, Vidyasagar Singh leveled the score at 1-1, capitalizing on a defensive error from Dempo. He skillfully placed the ball into the net, bringing the teams back to parity. No further goals were scored in the first half, leaving the score tied at 1-1.

In the second half, Dempo continued their aggressive play, creating multiple chances. Richmond Kwasi Owusu came close to scoring but either missed the target or was thwarted by Neeraj Kumar’s exceptional saves. Particularly in the final minutes, Neeraj’s heroics prevented Namdhari from conceding again, ensuring they walked away with a point.

Namdhari’s strong defense thwarted Dempo’s hopes for victory, resulting in a draw. Vidyasagar Singh was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his impressive performance. Following this draw, Dempo SC secured 3 points, placing them 9th in the standings, while Namdhari FC now has 6 points, moving up to 7th place.
