Myanmar President Meets Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi

Beijing, April 27: Myanmar’s new President Min Aung Hlaing met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on April 25 in the capital, Naypyidaw.

During the meeting, Min Aung Hlaing requested Wang Yi to convey his gratitude and greetings to President Xi Jinping. He emphasized that Myanmar prioritizes its relationship with China, remains committed to the One China policy, and supports the four global initiatives proposed by Xi Jinping. The new government of Myanmar aims to strengthen high-level exchanges with China to enhance cooperation across various sectors and jointly build a community with a shared future. Myanmar will not allow any actions that could harm China’s interests in the country and will continue to oppose online gambling and telecommunications fraud.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to Min Aung Hlaing. He stated that China’s policy towards Myanmar has remained consistent. China firmly supports Myanmar’s development path that aligns with its national position and enjoys public support. Additionally, China stands by Myanmar in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. It also supports Myanmar in achieving national peace, ethnic reconciliation, and social harmony.

Wang Yi pointed out that it has been proven that building a community with a shared future between China and Myanmar meets the developmental needs of both countries and serves the fundamental interests of their people. Both nations should remain committed to this path. China supports the five key policy priorities of Myanmar’s new government and will continue to provide assistance.
