Mumbai Street Renamed in Honor of Legendary Musician Bappi Lahiri

A street in Mumbai is now named after Bappi Lahiri, honoring his 45 years of contribution to music and cinema.

Mumbai, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : In a heartfelt tribute to the late Bappi Lahiri, a prominent singer and composer, a street in Mumbai has been officially renamed “Musician Bappi Lahiri Marg.” This honor recognizes the 45 years he spent in the area, where he made significant contributions to the music and film industry. The renaming ceremony took place in October, attended by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and several notable figures from the film fraternity.

Actor Gulshan Grover expressed his admiration for Bappi Lahiri, describing him as a symbol of cinema, music, and art. He emphasized the pride associated with this tribute, stating, “Bappi Lahiri was a legend in cinema and music, and his extraordinary contributions have paved new paths. It is a matter of great pride and honor to have a memorial in his name.” Grover extended his congratulations to Bappi’s family, who were present at the event.

Sunil Shetty also shared his thoughts, suggesting that this recognition should have occurred much earlier, but he acknowledged that “better late than never.” He referred to Bappi Lahiri as an unparalleled legend, noting that he felt like family to him.

Actress Poonam Dhillon remembered Bappi as a loving, vibrant personality. She remarked that anyone who had met or worked with him would cherish his memorable character and music. Dhillon stressed the necessity of this honor, pointing out that the street was informally known by his name long before the official renaming. “Whenever someone asked for directions, they were told to go past Bappi Lahiri’s house,” she recalled.

She further highlighted Bappi’s unique musical style, stating that his songs were instantly recognizable. “Singing Bappi Lahiri’s songs was a style of its own, and he will always be remembered for that. He created music that resonated internationally, winning hearts everywhere,” Dhillon concluded.

This renaming serves as a fitting tribute to a man whose legacy continues to influence the world of music and cinema.
