
Lucknow, May 20: Bhupendra Chaudhary, the Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Uttar Pradesh, stated on Wednesday that the MSME sector will serve as a robust foundation for building a developed Uttar Pradesh and will provide new momentum to the state’s economy.
He instructed officials to ensure effective support for entrepreneurs at every level, from business establishment to production, marketing, and export. While presiding over a departmental review meeting in Assembly Hall Room 80 after taking office, Minister Chaudhary emphasized that strengthening the industrial environment in the state is the government’s top priority. State Minister Hansraj Vishwakarma was also present at the meeting.
During the review of departmental progress, officials reported that over 9.6 million MSME units are currently operational in the state, providing employment and self-employment to nearly 30 million people. Additionally, the MSME sector accounts for approximately 46 percent of the state’s total exports, highlighting its significant role in the economy.
Minister Chaudhary mentioned that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, departmental schemes will be implemented swiftly. He directed officials to empower youth and traditional artisans through the Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Employment Scheme and the Vishwakarma Labor Honor Scheme. He also stressed the importance of prioritizing Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward classes in these initiatives.
He provided directives for the effective implementation of the ‘Chief Minister Micro Enterprise Accident Insurance Scheme’ and the ‘Uttar Pradesh Micro Small Industry Technical Upgradation Scheme,’ stating that entrepreneurs should be empowered with both safety and modern technology. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to prioritize the establishment of private industrial parks and the modernization of district industrial centers.
The minister reiterated that the department’s primary objective is to create a conducive environment for industries in the state. The government’s aim is to accelerate MSME units to generate new investment and employment opportunities. He expressed confidence that the MSME sector will play a crucial role in positioning the state among the leading and developed states in the country.
