Mumbai, February 10: Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), recently stated that Veer Savarkar deserves the Bharat Ratna award. BJP leader Shrikant Bharati expressed that Bhagwat has voiced the sentiments of those who love the country and the nation.
In a conversation in Mumbai, Bharati emphasized that Savarkar’s dedication, sacrifice, and martyrdom are well-known worldwide. He highlighted Savarkar’s significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle, asserting that Bhagwat has articulated the feelings of millions.
Responding to Congress MP Imran Masood’s remarks about Savarkar, Bharati questioned whether Masood was truly born in India. He stated that understanding the freedom struggle is Masood’s responsibility. He pointed out who fought for independence, who sacrificed, and who was imprisoned for 14 years in the Andaman Islands. Bharati lamented that if Masood is unaware of these facts, it is unfortunate for him.
Bharati advised Masood to study the contributions of those who dedicated themselves to India’s freedom.
Regarding BJP’s BMC mayoral candidate Ritu Tawde, Bharati affirmed that they have fulfilled their promise to the people of Mumbai. He stated that Tawde embodies Hindu, Marathi, and Mahayuti values, fulfilling the commitment made by Devendra Fadnavis to the citizens.
On Bhagwat’s comments about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Bharati remarked that the UCC is not a new concept for them. The BJP has been engaging with society on this issue for a long time and will continue to do so. He noted that if Bhagwat has discussed it, it aims to bring ordinary people into the mainstream of society, reflecting the aspirations of millions across the country.
