New Delhi, March 13: The great-grandson of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has made a shocking claim on social media, seeking assistance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding a missing artifact.
Chandra Kumar Bose, Netaji’s descendant, posted on the social media platform X, revealing that the hat he had presented to the Prime Minister is now missing from the museum at the Red Fort. He has urged PM Modi to look into the matter.
In his post, Chandra Kumar wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, you may recall that my family members, our friend Suparno Satpathy, and several others from ‘The Open Platform for Netaji’ (OPN) presented you with Netaji’s hat. You personally dedicated it at the Netaji Museum in the Red Fort on January 23, 2019, during Netaji Jayanti (Patriot’s Day in India).”
He further stated that a recent visit to the museum by OPN member Advocate Naveen Bamel revealed that the hat is no longer there. No one at the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) seems to know its whereabouts. “Netaji is one of our greatest leaders, and this situation is extremely embarrassing. Please look into this matter,” he added.
It is noteworthy that in 2019, after accepting the hat, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the Bose family on social media, announcing that it would be displayed in the exhibition at the Red Fort’s Kranti Mandir.
The Prime Minister shared a photo, stating, “I am grateful to the Bose family for gifting me the hat worn by Netaji Bose. It has been immediately placed in the exhibition gallery at Kranti Mandir in the Red Fort complex. I hope more young people will visit Kranti Mandir and draw inspiration from Netaji Bose’s life.”
