Washington, April 28: A recent incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has sparked outrage from former First Lady Melania Trump towards comedian Jimmy Kimmel. Following Kimmel’s controversial jokes about her and President Donald Trump, Melania labeled him a coward and demanded his dismissal from ABC and Disney.
During an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last week, Kimmel made a comedic monologue that poked fun at the dinner event. He remarked, “Our First Lady Melania is here. You look beautiful, like a pregnant widow.”
Kimmel has previously commented on Trump’s connections with Jeffrey Epstein, stating he had never seen such dark pages in any files. He also described Donald Trump as a delicate individual with the thinnest skin of anyone he has encountered.
In response to Kimmel’s remarks, Melania accused him of spreading hateful and violent rhetoric. She stated that it is time for ABC to take a firm stand against the comedian, who has long criticized the President and his policies.
On Monday evening, Melania posted on X, “Kimmel’s hate-filled and violent rhetoric aims to divide our country. His speech about my family is not comedy. His words are harmful and deepen the political illness spreading within America.”
She continued, “People like Kimmel should not be allowed to enter our homes every night to spread hate. Coward Kimmel hides behind ABC, knowing the network will always support him. Enough is enough. It’s time for ABC to take a stand. How long will ABC tolerate Kimmel’s disgusting behavior at the expense of our community?”
Shortly after, Donald Trump responded on Truth Social, referencing Kimmel’s speech and Melania’s post. He stated, “I understand that many are hurt by Kimmel’s violence-inciting, disgusting comments. Generally, I do not respond to him, but this is beyond offensive. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.”
The Trump family’s call for Kimmel’s dismissal comes at a time when critics of the Trump administration are highlighting the violent rhetoric used by the White House and the President over the years.
It is worth noting that ABC suspended Kimmel last September after the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, a Trump supporter, advised the network on Kimmel’s jokes about the President. This incident caused a stir, with accusations that it was an attack on the constitutional right to free speech. However, ABC later reinstated Kimmel.
