It provides a platform for emerging players to prove themselves in match situations while giving franchises a clear benchmark ahead of the T20 Mumbai League. Our focus remains on providing opportunities and maintaining the rich tradition of Mumbai cricket.”
Former Indian cricketer Rajeev Kulkarni emphasized the necessity of such a tournament before a league of this level. He noted, “This tournament is essential for players to gain match practice, clarity, and confidence, while also assisting teams in finding the right combinations. Initiatives like the MCA Champions Trophy play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and competitiveness of the T20 Mumbai League.”
The tournament will run from April 20 to April 30, featuring eight teams. Players have been selected from the pool of registered players for the T20 Mumbai League by MCA selectors. Matches will be held at four venues: MCA BKC, MCA Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivali, Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane, and Western Railway in Mahalaxmi.
Designed as a high-performance platform, the MCA Champions Trophy 2026 aims to provide emerging players with invaluable match experience. It will also assist franchises in assessing players’ form, fitness, and preparation ahead of the T20 Mumbai League 2026 auction, while enhancing team synergy.
This tournament is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping team strategies and identifying key players before the league. With a strong emphasis on participation and performance, it lays the foundation for an exciting launch of the T20 Mumbai League, one of India’s premier domestic T20 competitions.
