Mayank Yadav Aims to Make His Mark in IPL 2026 After Injury Setbacks

New Delhi, March 16: In the IPL 2022 auction, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) placed their bet on fast bowler Mayank Yadav from Delhi, acquiring him at a base price of 20 lakhs. Unfortunately, he did not get the chance to showcase his speed in 2022 and 2023. However, LSG was preparing Mayank to be a significant challenge for batsmen.

Mayank finally made his debut in IPL 2024, and his pace astonished every team and top batsman. On April 2, 2024, during a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he bowled a delivery clocked at 156.7 kilometers per hour, marking the fastest ball of the season. In IPL 2024, Mayank played four matches and took seven wickets, leaving a notable impression in the league. However, an injury sidelined him, disrupting his momentum.

The story was similar in IPL 2025, where he played only two matches for LSG before being ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury. Despite showcasing both speed and skill in his bowling, Mayank struggled to stay injury-free in both seasons. He has played a total of six matches in the IPL, taking nine wickets. However, injuries have hindered his performance, with his economy rate soaring from 6.98 in IPL 2024 to 12.50 in IPL 2025.

After battling injuries for two seasons, Mayank Yadav is eager to leave his mark in IPL 2026. LSG shared a video on their social media account ‘X’, showcasing Mayank’s trademark speed and strength in his bowling. As the 19th season of the Indian Premier League approaches, Mayank has a golden opportunity to make a strong comeback. The Lucknow Super Giants, who have shown faith in this young fast bowler, will be hoping for a powerful performance this season. However, it is crucial for Mayank to stay injury-free to capitalize on this chance.
