Lucknow, March 16: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is set to commence on March 28. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) began their training camp on Monday. The franchise announced that captain Rishabh Pant and seasoned fast bowler Mohammad Shami will join the team on Tuesday after arriving in Lucknow late Monday night.
During Monday’s session, batsmen Akshat Raghuwanshi, Abdul Samad, and Himmat Singh, along with all-rounders Ayush Badoni, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Arshin Kulkarni, impressed everyone in the nets. Meanwhile, the coaching staff praised the pace of Arjun Tendulkar, Mayank Yadav, and Avesh Khan, as well as the speed and accuracy of wrist spinner Digvijay Rathi.
Tom Moody, the Global Cricket Director of Lucknow Super Giants, and head coach Justin Langer provided technical guidance throughout the session. Assistant coaches Lance Klusener and Bharat Arun also worked diligently with the players.
Previously, the franchise held a pre-season camp at the ‘Coaching Beyond Academy’ grounds in Chennai. LSG will kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals at Ekana Stadium on April 1. Following that, the team will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9, before taking on Gujarat Titans on April 12.
Since joining the IPL in 2022, Lucknow Super Giants have reached the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023. However, they finished seventh in the points table in 2024 and 2025. Currently, LSG is the only active team that has yet to reach the IPL finals.
