Pune, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in the electoral process. He stated that elections in the country must be conducted freely and fairly, warning that any form of electoral malpractice is a serious issue.
Sapkal highlighted the necessity of investigating correspondence from two election commissioners that revealed concerning information. He stressed that the issues raised in these letters must be taken seriously. Rahul Gandhi has long raised concerns about vote theft, and Sapkal insists that Gyanesh Kumar should resign immediately. He remarked that elections are the foundation of democracy, and any irregularities in the electoral process pose a significant threat to democratic governance. He reiterated the urgent need for transparent elections.
Furthermore, Sapkal criticized the Maharashtra government for its handling of ongoing examination and paper leak issues. He noted the frequent incidents of paper leaks during examinations, labeling it a major fraud. Despite the revelations, he accused the Maharashtra government of being unwilling to implement necessary reforms. Sapkal also questioned the government’s decision regarding the chairperson of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), suggesting it raises doubts about the fairness of the selection process, especially since the individual in question has ties to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He expressed concerns that the MPSC could potentially benefit select individuals in the future, hinting at possible corruption. The Congress party is committed to preventing such outcomes.
Sapkal further remarked that awareness among youth regarding paper leak issues and student-related problems has increased. Following Rahul Gandhi’s consistent emphasis on these matters, a new consciousness is emerging among young voters. He assured that the Congress party stands in solidarity with local organizations to support these issues. He concluded by stressing the importance of ensuring transparency and fairness in the examination system.
