Imphal, May 12: In a series of significant operations, security forces in Manipur have apprehended multiple militants and active members linked to banned organizations. These actions have also uncovered cases related to arms, explosives, and forced recruitment.
The first incident occurred on May 9, 2026, when security forces arrested an individual involved in extortion near the village of Jeljang in Churachandpur district. The suspect, identified as Vincent Pumjamang Taithul (40), is reported to be the commander-in-chief of the non-SOO group, Jogam Liberation Front (ZLF) India. Authorities recovered ten letterheads from the organization and three mobile phones from his residence.
On May 11, four active cadres of the RPF/PLA were arrested from the Nongda-Chana area in the Imphal East district. The arrested individuals include Moirangthem Santhoi Maitei (19), Khetrimayum Chouba Maitei (24), Malemangba Moirangthem (23), and Nepram Tolenkhomba Maitei (18). Two mobile phones were seized, and three young men who were being forcibly recruited into the organization were safely rescued by security forces.
The third operation on the same day took place in Kakching district, where KCP active member Laishangthem Ibungo Singh (50) was arrested. A large cache of weapons and explosives was recovered, including four firearms (including automatic rifles), 36 empty magazines, one 51 bomb, two parachute bombs, 11 detonators, four hand grenades, 1993 live cartridges, and one mobile phone.
In a fourth incident on the same day, Khumbongmayum Anand Maitei (53), an active member and advisor of KCP (Apunba), was arrested from Tarung Grace Colony in Imphal West. Two mobile phones and an Aadhaar card were found in his possession.
Security forces have stated that their campaign against militant networks and forced recruitment activities in the state will continue.
