Major Drug Bust in Jammu: Police Seize 804 Grams of Heroin and 1.114 Kilograms of Opium

Jammu polices Operation Sanjeevani leads to the seizure of significant heroin and opium quantities, linked to cross-border drug trafficking.

Jammu, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : Jammu police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking through Operation Sanjeevani. Authorities recovered 804 grams of heroin and 1.114 kilograms of opium from the Talhar village area in the Arnia sector.

The operation was triggered by a tip-off to the RS Pura police station, which reported that a 26-year-old man named Sunny Kumar from Kotli Miridian was consuming drugs near a ditch in his village. Based on this information, an FIR was filed under Section 8/27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, prompting an investigation.

During the inquiry, investigators discovered that Kumar might be linked to a drug trafficking gang involved in smuggling operations using drones. Acting on this intelligence, a police team led by the RS Pura SHO intensified their efforts, leading to the substantial drug seizure in Talhar.

Preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of a cross-border network utilizing drones to transport narcotics into Indian territory. The police are now probing further to identify the origins of this shipment, its intended recipients, and others connected to this network.

Authorities are committed to dismantling the entire drug trafficking network and identifying all individuals involved. The Jammu police remain resolute in their efforts to combat narco-terrorism through continuous and stringent actions.
