Major Breakthrough for Delhi Police: Notorious Criminal Ravi Malik Arrested

New Delhi, April 24: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has achieved a significant success by arresting a notorious criminal who had been on the run for an extended period. The accused, identified as Ravi Malik, also known as Bhura (43), is reportedly a close associate of the infamous Kala Jathedi and Sampat Nehra gangs. He was wanted for attempted murder and armed robbery and had been evading capture for the past eight years.

On April 22, the Dwarka (Sector-9) Crime Branch received a tip-off about the accused’s impending arrival near the Lancer Convent School in Rohini. Acting on this information, a team led by Inspector Satish Malik set a trap and apprehended him at the scene.

Ravi Malik had previously been arrested in this case but failed to appear in court after being granted bail. Consequently, on May 1, 2018, the Rohini Court declared him a proclaimed offender.

Originally from Alipur, Malik completed his education up to the 12th grade. Initially, he worked in building materials but turned to crime following a shooting incident during a land dispute in 2006. While in prison, he met the notorious gangster Kala Jathedi, which led him to become an active member of the gang.

According to police, between 2009 and 2011, he committed numerous crimes, including murder, robbery, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act. His involvement in a murder case within prison was also uncovered in 2011.

Delhi Police had previously announced a reward of ₹50,000 for his capture, which was later increased to ₹1 lakh by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

After being released on parole in 2017, he went underground and resumed his criminal activities. His name surfaced in a murder case in Meerut in 2020, during which he sustained six gunshot wounds in a police encounter but survived.

To evade arrest, Malik fled from Delhi to Dehradun, where he continued his criminal activities. He was eventually apprehended upon returning to Delhi.

DCP Harsh Indora of the Crime Branch stated that this arrest is a testament to the vigilance and continuous monitoring by Delhi Police. He emphasized that no fugitive can evade the law indefinitely.
