Bengaluru, April 7: In a significant anti-corruption initiative, the Lokayukta in Karnataka has conducted extensive raids across four districts. On Tuesday, officials targeted Bellary, Chitradurga, Mysuru, and Shivamogga, focusing on government officials accused of amassing assets beyond their known income.

Separate teams from the Lokayukta simultaneously arrived at various locations to inspect documents and properties. In Chitradurga, they raided the home of a former accountant from the ‘Nirmithi Kendra.’ This woman had taken voluntary retirement a year ago and is alleged to have accumulated wealth during her tenure.

Raids were conducted at her residence in Medahalli Layout and her farmhouse located in Yadlaghatta village. The operation was led by Lokayukta SP Vasudevaram and DSP Mrityunjaya.

In Bellary district, raids were executed at the residence and office of an assistant director from the fisheries department. Investigations spanned four locations, including their home in Siddharth Nagar. Officials also examined a government Bolero vehicle used by the director and seized crucial documents. Two teams from the Lokayukta were involved in this operation.

Similarly, in Mysuru, raids targeted the home and office of an assistant executive engineer from the Public Works Department (PWD). Searches were conducted at their office in Mysuru and two residential properties in Mandya district.

In Shivamogga, extensive raids were carried out on properties linked to a female district officer from the backward classes welfare department. Multiple locations were inspected, including her home in Chennakeshava Nagar, a farmhouse near Taraghatta, a school near Achapura, and another residence in the Navile area. Additionally, the BCM district office near KEB Circle was also searched.

Another raid took place in the Chalukyanagar area of Shivamogga, targeting the home of another BCM department employee, where document inspections are ongoing.
