
Guwahati, April 19: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway has once again demonstrated its commitment to ensuring passenger safety through a series of operations at various locations.
According to Kapilanjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, on April 13, the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team in Rangiya apprehended an individual accused of stealing passengers’ belongings on a train. Approximately ₹40,000 worth of a stolen mobile phone was recovered from him. The accused was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) of Rangiya, where a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
In another operation on April 14, the RPF team from Katihar (East) arrested a person at the Katihar railway station. They recovered a stolen mobile phone valued at around ₹15,000. The accused was subsequently transferred to the GRP, Katihar, where a case was filed under the relevant sections.
On the same day, the CPDS team in Guwahati arrested another individual at the Guwahati railway station, recovering a stolen mobile phone worth ₹15,000. This person was also handed over to the GRP, Guwahati, where a case was registered against him.
Continuing their efforts, on April 16, the team from the New Bongaigaon RPF post apprehended a suspect at the Bongaigaon railway station, recovering a stolen mobile phone valued at ₹10,000. The accused was forwarded to the GRP, New Bongaigaon, for further legal action.
These successful operations highlight the vigilance and promptness of the RPF in safeguarding passengers and their belongings. NFR reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe travel and urged passengers to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to railway authorities.
The headquarters of the Northeast Frontier Railway is located in Maligaon, near Guwahati, and provides services to the northeastern states, as well as seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of North Bihar.
