Bhopal, August 26: The Madhya Pradesh government has revealed a significant financial scam within the finance department, estimated at ₹600 crore. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jagdish Deora announced that the department utilized artificial intelligence (AI) to detect these financial irregularities. An FIR has been filed, and the recovery process is underway.
In a statement to the media in Bhopal, Deora said, “The finance department, with the help of AI, has uncovered the entire sequence of events related to this case. An FIR has been lodged against those found guilty, and recovery efforts have commenced. FIRs will be filed against all individuals responsible for the discrepancies across various departments.”
He further added, “All departments involved will be investigated once the inquiry begins, whether it pertains to urban administration or women and child development. A substantial amount has been recovered, and action will be taken against all offenders. The investigation is ongoing, and further actions will follow as more culprits are identified.”
Minister Deora indicated that this scam had been ongoing for a considerable time, involving manipulation of transactions that harmed the state treasury. The AI-based audit system successfully tracked suspicious transactions, revealing the entire network of misconduct. The government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and will not spare any guilty parties.
He also noted that the scope of the investigation will expand in the coming days, with all relevant departmental records being scrutinized. The government clarified that the recovered funds are being deposited into the state treasury, and measures will be taken to strengthen the AI system to prevent future irregularities.
