Madhya Pradesh Receives Farmer Welfare Package from Union Agriculture Minister

New Delhi, March 12: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Thursday to discuss crucial agricultural and rural development issues in the state.

The meeting, which also included Madhya Pradesh’s Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel and senior officials, focused on significant decisions that would provide substantial relief to the state’s farmers. Topics included the Bhavantar scheme, pulses and oilseeds mission, MGNREGA, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and rural road development.

During the discussions, pending issues related to mustard procurement in Madhya Pradesh were thoroughly addressed. Minister Chouhan approved the state’s proposal under the Bhavantar payment scheme for mustard procurement, directing relevant departments to expedite the payment process. This decision will benefit mustard-producing farmers and ensure timely fulfillment of the promises made by the state government.

Minister Chouhan also handed over an approval letter for the 100% procurement of tur (arhar) to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav during the meeting. This decision guarantees that tur farmers in Madhya Pradesh will receive full government procurement of their produce, mitigating the risk of market price drops and ensuring income stability.

The meeting covered various topics, including Bhavantar payments for mustard and soybean, additional targets for moong and urad under the pulses mission, the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, soil health and fertility programs, MGNREGA wages and material payments, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and issues related to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Minister Chouhan instructed officials to prioritize pending cases related to Madhya Pradesh to provide swift relief to the state’s farmers, laborers, and rural poor.

Chouhan emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, 2026 is being celebrated as the Year of Farmer Welfare in Madhya Pradesh. He noted that the central government is giving special priority to agricultural states like Madhya Pradesh. He stated, “Madhya Pradesh is my home. During the Year of Farmer Welfare, we will ensure that farmers cultivating mustard, tur, moong, urad, and oilseeds receive all possible support, and the state remains at the forefront of rural development.”
