Patna, March 5: In a significant move for the tourism sector, the Bihar Tourism Department has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sarga Hotel Private Limited to establish a luxury Taj Hotel at the Bankipur Bus Stand. The agreement was made in the presence of Tourism Minister Arun Shankar Prasad and follows a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
According to the agreement, the Indian Hotels Group will construct this five-star Taj Hotel. The minister emphasized the need for better accommodation for tourists and business travelers in Patna, stating that a five-star hotel is essential for the city. The government plans to build three five-star hotels in the capital, with one already under construction and the second one’s agreement signed today.
Prasad mentioned that the formalities have been completed, and the Taj Hotel’s construction should be finished within the stipulated timeframe. The process for the third five-star hotel is also underway. The state is enhancing facilities near tourist destinations and creating new circuits. Just as Bodh Gaya and Rajgir attract many tourists, it is expected that the Janaki Temple in Sitamarhi will also draw visitors in the future.
Nandakishore, Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited, shared that the Taj Hotel will feature 500 rooms on this site, with the first phase including 350 rooms and the second phase adding 150 rooms.
K. Mohanchandran, Senior Vice President of the Taj Hotel, noted that the Taj Hotel being developed in Bankipur, Patna, will be one of the finest versions among Taj hotels across India. The construction aims to provide an exceptional five-star experience for the residents of Patna within the designated timeline.
