New Delhi, August 12: The Lok Sabha’s proceedings were adjourned until 2 PM due to continuous disruptions by the opposition. The opposition is demanding discussions regarding alleged embezzlement in the Ram Temple donations.
As the Lok Sabha session commenced at 11 AM on Wednesday, the opposition created a ruckus as usual. Speaker Om Birla urged the members, stating, “I request all of you to allow the house to function. We may have differences in policies and opinions, but the nation wants to see the house in session.”
The opposition ignored Speaker Birla’s repeated appeals to maintain decorum and continued their protests.
The Speaker further remarked, “The public believes that while there can be differences in policies and opinions, they should be expressed through dialogue. Therefore, I have engaged in discussions with leaders of all parties, both individually and collectively.”
Once again appealing to the opposition members, he noted, “Today is also International Youth Day, and Indian youth have made significant strides in education, science, space technology, and entrepreneurship on a global scale. The youth of our country also wish to discuss their issues.”
The Speaker added, “The government has also agreed. The Home Minister is ready to provide a statement. Therefore, let there be a discussion in the house. Other issues will also be addressed. Both the ruling party and the opposition should reach a consensus. I urge you to understand the sentiments of the nation; the country wants Parliament to function. It is everyone’s responsibility to uphold its dignity.”
Despite these appeals, the opposition continued their uproar. Ultimately, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings until 12 PM.
