Local Artisans Shine at Handloom and Handicraft Exhibition in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, April 14: A grand handloom and handicraft exhibition has been organized at Chougan Ground in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir. The event showcases traditional products crafted by local artisans and women, attracting a large number of visitors eager to view and purchase these unique items. Various stalls have been set up, prominently featuring Kashmiri and local handicrafts.

During the event, Anjali Singh Chauhan, the district president of the BJP, toured the exhibition and inspected the stalls. She praised the quality of the handloom and handicraft items on display, describing them as beautiful and appealing. Chauhan shared that she personally bought several products that caught her eye, noting the excellent quality and affordable prices of the items available.

She particularly commended the handmade products created by women, highlighting their remarkable skills. Whether in clothing design or embroidery, the craftsmanship exhibited a level of detail and beauty. Chauhan remarked that the traditional zari and embroidery work of Jammu and Kashmir is reflected in the artisans’ creations showcased at the exhibition.

Chauhan emphasized that such exhibitions provide a significant platform for local artisans, helping them gain recognition for their work and potentially increasing their income. She expressed gratitude to the administration for this initiative, which empowers women and artisans to advance in their crafts.

She also mentioned various government initiatives aimed at empowering women under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Chauhan stated that women are now receiving opportunities to excel in all fields, with visible impacts on the ground. She added that programs like Nari Shakti Vandan will further strengthen women’s participation.
