Leftist Parties Demand Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Amid Nationwide Protests

Leftist parties in India call for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, planning protests from September 26 to October 2.

New Delhi, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : Leftist parties in India are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They have also called for an immediate halt to the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process, citing widespread discontent across the country. Dipankar Bhattacharya, General Secretary of CPI (ML) Liberation, emphasized that the issues raised by the left parties have now surfaced through the election commission‘s procedures.

In a statement, Bhattacharya noted the growing frustration among citizens regarding the SIR’s implementation in Bihar. He reiterated their key demands: the immediate removal of Gyanesh Kumar and the suspension of the SIR process.

Former CPI (M) MP Hannan Mollah joined the call for action against Kumar. Responding to a planned protest by Abhijit Dipke of the so-called “Cockroach People’s Party,” Mollah expressed support for the demonstrations and urged that Kumar should not only resign but be removed from his position entirely.

Mollah accused Kumar of committing serious offenses against the Constitution and attempting to disrupt the electoral process. He highlighted that many citizens’ voting rights have been compromised.

He insisted on swift and stringent action regarding the matter, urging the courts to take immediate notice. Mollah also stressed the need for a system that prevents corrupt individuals from holding constitutional positions in the future.

Additionally, Mollah criticized the Bihar government for its handling of crimes against women. He pointed out the increasing incidents of violence against women in the state and the government’s failure to address these issues effectively. According to him, the law and order situation in Bihar is deteriorating, and the government must take responsibility.

He concluded by stating that while the government makes grand promises, it has failed to implement effective measures to curb crime. Immediate action is essential to restore safety and order in the state.
