L. Murugan Resigns to Strengthen BJP in Tamil Nadu Ahead of 2029 Elections

L. Murugan resigns from Rajya Sabha to bolster BJPs presence in Tamil Nadu before the 2029 elections, focusing on grassroots training.

Chennai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Former Union Minister and BJP leader L. Murugan announced on Thursday that his resignation from the Rajya Sabha and the Union Council of Ministers on October 13 was aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots level in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

In a statement to the media, Murugan mentioned that he stepped down with the approval and blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His primary goal is to train and empower party workers at all levels while expanding the BJP’s organizational presence throughout Tamil Nadu.

Murugan expressed his desire to collaborate with senior leaders, officials, and party workers. He plans to visit villages across the state, meet with the public, and enhance the party’s outreach. Additionally, he aims to inform citizens about the central government’s schemes, policies, and funding allocated to Tamil Nadu.

Addressing defamatory and politically motivated allegations surrounding his resignation, Murugan dismissed these claims as baseless and fabricated. He asserted that such accusations seek to tarnish his image and create confusion among the public.

He urged media organizations, social media administrators, and content creators to remove this defamatory material and publicly apologize. Murugan warned that failure to comply could lead to legal action against them.

Reflecting on his political journey, Murugan shared that he hails from a poor family in Koonoor, where his parents made ends meet through daily wage labor and animal husbandry. He noted that being elected to the Rajya Sabha twice and serving as a Union Minister twice demonstrates the trust placed in him by Prime Minister Modi and the BJP leadership.

He also recalled his tenure as Vice-Chairman of the National Scheduled Castes Commission, where he focused on documenting atrocities against Scheduled Castes and ensuring action against such incidents.

During his time in the central government, Murugan observed Prime Minister Modi’s concern for Tamil Nadu closely. He cited examples such as the Chennai Metro, the Tuticorin Port, highway projects, and the redevelopment of 26 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Murugan fondly remembered Prime Minister Modi’s visit to his residence in New Delhi during the Pongal celebrations, highlighting the Prime Minister’s appreciation for Tamil language, culture, and civilization.

Reiterating that his sole purpose for resigning was to strengthen the BJP organization in Tamil Nadu, Murugan emphasized that he will dedicate his time and energy to preparing the party for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, spreading the Prime Minister’s message of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” among the people.
