Kriti Sanon Responds to Kangana Ranauts Critique on Raksha Bandhan Ad

Mumbai, August 25: Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon is currently making headlines due to a Raksha Bandhan advertisement. Her Indo-Western look in a jewelry brand’s campaign has drawn mixed reactions. Some social media users have criticized her outfit, leading to a pointed remark from actress Kangana Ranaut, who indirectly targeted the ad’s styling.

Kriti has now broken her silence, sharing her thoughts through an Instagram post. She emphasized that a woman’s clothing does not determine her respect for culture and tradition.

In her post, Kriti stated, “The essence of festivals lies not in the clothes you wear, but in the emotions and significance of those traditions. Raksha Bandhan symbolizes the bond of protection and love. My sister and I tie rakhi to each other, wishing for each other’s safety, good health, happiness, and longevity.”

She further added, “For me, this love, prayer, and care extends to our dogs as well, as they are part of our family.”

Kriti then posed a question, “When will we stop telling women what they should wear? Ethnic fashion has evolved significantly, yet a woman’s respect for her culture is still measured by her clothing. Culture and traditions reside in a woman’s heart, not in her neckline.”

This statement is being viewed in light of Kangana Ranaut’s earlier comments. The controversy began with the Raksha Bandhan advertisement, where Kriti wore an off-white Indo-Western outfit featuring a bralette-style blouse, draped skirt, and cape. After the ad was released, some users on social media deemed her attire inappropriate for the festival.

The situation escalated when Kangana shared a post on her Instagram story. Although she did not mention Kriti by name, her comments were interpreted as a critique of the same advertisement.

Kangana wrote, “It’s a wonderful time to be a woman. Our wardrobes are filled with various outfits, and today’s woman is global. From cocktail dresses to lehengas, jeans to sarees, and bikinis to salwar-kameez, we have so many options. So why would you tie rakhi to your brother in a bikini or undergarments? Where have all your styling options gone? Ha ha, this advertisement seems deliberately odd.”
