Kolkata, March 4: Priyadarshini Hakim, daughter of Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, returned from Dubai on Wednesday and shared her experiences regarding the situation there. She mentioned that they had traveled to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and did not feel much fear initially. However, her family began urging her to return as tensions escalated, especially after attacks were reported in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as on the Saudi capital.
Priyadarshini noted that military presence was visible outside malls and shops. She even spotted a fighter jet from a distance. Once they managed to secure a flight, they returned home. During their journey, they saw crew members from Air India and Indigo on board. The airport was eerily deserted, with only two flights taking off in three hours, which felt quite strange to her.
She expressed relief upon returning, especially as her parents came to pick her up after fasting. Their rush to see her made her realize how worried they had been. Priyadarshini also mentioned that seeing reports of girls’ deaths in Iran had frightened her daughter. While in Dubai, she met two friends from Kolkata, but by the time she secured a ticket for them, the seats were already full. Many of her friends remain stranded there and are also trying to return.
