New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has lauded the Union Budget 2026-27 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, describing it as practical and dedicated to the common people and the economically weaker sections of the country.
Speaking to journalists, Rijiju said, “Today’s budget is very practical. The reform agenda led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a developed India is clearly reflected in this budget. There is no political rhetoric here; it is purely focused on development and a developed India.” He appreciated the Finance Minister’s presentation and the announcements of several packages, including the development of express highways and the Buddha Circuit.
Rijiju highlighted the significance of the budget for minority communities, stating, “There are major announcements for minorities. As the Minister for Minority Affairs, I am very happy with this budget. More than that, I feel proud to be an Indian citizen because the budget considers the entire country, including the North-East and Eastern regions.”
Addressing criticism from the opposition, he remarked, “This entire budget is for the common man and the poor. The opposition does not consider themselves part of the common people and views themselves as special. The provisions in the budget are solely for the benefit of the common man and the poor.”
He further added, “With extensive infrastructure development, who will use it? The reforms over the past 11 years will continue and ultimately benefit even the opposition members. Aren’t they Indians? Why should they be unhappy? I appeal to the opposition to welcome this good budget and refrain from politicising it.”
