Kerala CM Assures Support to Family of Accident Victim
Keralas Chief Minister VD Satheesan met with the family of a crash victim, promising government support in their legal battle.

Kochi, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan met with the family of Jayabalakrishnan, who tragically lost his life in a car accident. The incident occurred in Cheranelloor, near Kochi, when a Mercedes-Benz driven by a 17-year-old collided with Jayabalakrishnan’s scooter. During the visit, the Chief Minister assured the family of the government’s full support in their quest for justice.
The family presented a complaint alleging that the teenager’s father, an additional district judge, attempted to destroy crucial evidence following the accident. Satheesan offered condolences and pledged assistance, emphasizing that the government would stand by them throughout the legal process.
The family claimed that the judge and his relatives arrived at the scene shortly after the crash in another vehicle, suggesting an intention to tamper with evidence. They believe that nearby CCTV footage will substantiate their claims.
Jayabalakrishnan’s daughter, Bhadrakirthi, expressed to the media that they discussed their concerns and the challenges they face in pursuing the case. She mentioned that their lawyer, Srigeet, will continue to represent them, and they will formulate their strategy after the court’s decision.
Meanwhile, the Ernakulam Sessions Court raised serious objections regarding the identification of the minor accused. This issue arose as both the state government and the victim’s family filed separate petitions to revoke the minor’s bail.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Kavitha Gangadharan stated that revealing the full name and address of any child involved in legal proceedings violates the Juvenile Justice Act. The court emphasized the importance of protecting the minor’s identity and instructed both parties to refer to the accused simply as “the minor accused” in their petitions.
The court also directed the prosecution and the victim’s family attorney to ensure that no information disclosing the minor’s identity is presented during the legal proceedings. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for Saturday.
