During his statement, Sahrawat emphasized, “We assure you that the investigation will be thorough and all culprits will face punishment. The administration will take necessary actions without delay or oversight. A family has been affected, and the entire community is present here. It is the police’s duty to prevent such incidents from happening again. Every individual is important, and the police must uphold their responsibilities.”
In a post on X, MP Swati Maliwal expressed her shock and outrage over the brutal murder of a young man named Tarun Kumar on Holi. Reports indicate that a minor incident involving a balloon dropped by a young girl escalated into a religious conflict, leading to Tarun’s tragic death. “We stand with the victim’s family; they deserve justice. All those responsible must face the harshest penalties,” she stated.
The Holi celebrations in Uttam Nagar turned tragic when a fight broke out between two families from different communities over a water balloon thrown by an 11-year-old girl from a Hindu family. The balloon accidentally hit a Muslim woman, prompting objections and escalating tensions.
Police reported that the dispute between the girl’s family and the woman’s family quickly turned violent. At least four individuals were injured, including three members of the Hindu family. Tragically, 26-year-old Tarun Kumar succumbed to his injuries the following morning, igniting further unrest in the area. On Friday night, protesters demanding justice for Tarun set several vehicles on fire and blocked roads.
