Jos Buttler Predicts Vaibhav Suryavanshi Could Break T20 Run Record

New Delhi, August 6: England’s seasoned batsman Jos Buttler has recently become the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket. He achieved this milestone during ‘The Hundred’ tournament, surpassing Kieron Pollard. However, Buttler has made a bold prediction regarding India’s 15-year-old batsman, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Buttler believes that Suryavanshi has the potential to break his T20 run record in the future. In an interview with Star Sports, he stated, “It’s really cool to think you’ve scored the most T20 runs. One day, someone will surpass it, and that name might just be Vaibhav Suryavanshi.” Over the past year, Suryavanshi has made a significant impact with his batting. He became the youngest player to debut in international cricket during the T20 series against England.

Suryavanshi showcased his talent in the T20 series against Zimbabwe, scoring a half-century in just 18 balls during his first T20 International match. In the third T20, he played a remarkable innings, scoring 81 runs off 49 balls, including 8 fours and 4 sixes. Earlier, in IPL 2026, he was the highest run-scorer of the tournament, amassing 776 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 237 across 16 matches.

Buttler himself had a stellar performance in a match between Manchester Super Giants and Welsh Fire, scoring 51 runs off just 20 balls, hitting 2 fours and 6 sixes. With this innings, he has now accumulated a total of 14,833 runs in T20 cricket, breaking Kieron Pollard’s record of 14,803 runs. Chris Gayle follows closely in third place with 14,562 runs.
