JNU clash: AISA members detained for gathering on Jai Singh Road

New Delhi, April 11 : The members of All India Students Association (AISA), who had thronged on Jai Singh Road, were detained for protesting against the clash that broke out between two groups of students in JNU and sent them to different police stations, police said on Monday. Police said the AISA members had gathered around Jai Singh Road, where Section 144 CrPC was in force. The activists were asked to leave the place, but they violated the lawful direction, following which total 70 students were detained. As many as 24 students, including 18 males and six females, were detained at Tughlak Road Police Station, besides 35 students, including 21 males and 14 females at Chanakyapuri Police Station and 13 students, including 11 males and 2 females, at Parliament Police Station. Earlier in the morning, an FIR was registered in JNU violence, which occurred on Monday evening. Delhi Police said it received a complaint from a group of students, who were members of JNUSU, SFI, DSF and AISA on early Monday morning, against unknown ABVP students. On the basis of complaint, an FIR has been lodged under Sections 323/341/509/506/34 IPC. The probe is on to collect factual and scientific evidence to identify the culprits, said police. The students belonging to ABVP have also intimated that they will be giving the complaint today morning. On receipt of the same appropriate legal action will be taken, said Delhi Police. CM RJ
