New Delhi, July 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) expressed its support for the CJP protest held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The association condemned the police’s actions against students protesting the NEET paper leak.
Nasir Khuehami, the National Convenor of JKSA, stated that the association fully backs the students and youth participating in the CJP-led protest. He criticized the Delhi police for using excessive and inappropriate force against demonstrators exercising their democratic and constitutional right to assemble peacefully and voice their opinions.
Khuehami highlighted distressing visuals emerging from the protest site, showing unarmed students and young protesters facing baton charges, tear gas, being dragged, assaulted, and detained. He remarked that these scenes have shaken the nation’s conscience.
He noted that physical force was used against women, students, and peaceful participants attempting to conduct a democratic march. Such actions have no place in a constitutional democracy that derives its legitimacy from the rule of law, constitutional morality, and the consent of its citizens.
Khuehami emphasized that the right to assemble peacefully, express oneself, and dissent is guaranteed under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution. Peaceful protest is one of the strongest pillars of democracy, and responding to it with force, intimidation, and violence undermines the constitutional values that government institutions are obligated to uphold.
The association pointed out that the NEET-2026 paper leak is the latest in a troubling series of examination scandals that have severely damaged the credibility of the country’s examination and recruitment systems.
In recent years, repeated incidents of paper leaks, irregularities, and administrative failures have shattered the hopes of millions of students who have invested years of hard work, sacrifice, and hope in competitive exams.
JKSA insisted that instead of restoring public trust through transparency, accountability, and genuine reforms, students demanding justice have faced brutal attacks.
The relevant police deputy commissioner should clarify who authorized the excessive use of force, including baton charges and tear gas, against peaceful protesters.
The association stated, “Our youth’s hopes are being crushed, while those responsible for ruining their future continue to evade accountability. This is deeply troubling and unacceptable in any democracy.”
They stressed that a government that truly believes in democratic values should respond to protests with dialogue, not intimidation. The government should have engaged with students constructively to address their genuine concerns rather than allowing the situation to escalate into confrontation. Violence can never be an appropriate response to peaceful democratic expression.
JKSA asserted that disagreement with any movement or its demands can never justify excessive force against peaceful protesters. Democracy thrives on dialogue, debate, and public participation; it does not flourish through baton charges, tear gas, intimidation, or suppression of dissent. Students are not the enemies of the nation; they are the voice of the country’s future. Their concerns should be heard with empathy and seriousness, not silenced through coercive measures.
