Jharkhands Chief Minister Accelerates Investment Plans Post Davos and UK Visit

Ranchi, April 24: Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized a comprehensive strategy to boost investment and industrial development in the state. Following his successful participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos and a visit to the United Kingdom, the Chief Minister held a high-level review meeting with officials to assess the progress of investment-related initiatives.

During the meeting at the Chief Minister’s residential office, officials presented detailed information on the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and investment proposals made during the trips to Davos and the UK. The Chief Minister directed that a solid and timely action plan be developed to implement these agreements as soon as possible. He stressed the importance of focusing on the MOUs signed in Davos, prioritizing investments in industrial development, the textile industry, higher education, food processing, IT, critical minerals, and tourism.

Soren urged officials to commit to a better action plan to quickly translate proposals and MOUs from interested companies into reality. The meeting also included discussions on the state’s textiles policy and the continuous coordination with industrial institutions interested in investing in Jharkhand. The Chief Minister highlighted the textile industry as a crucial sector that could create significant employment opportunities for women. He noted that many residents of Jharkhand often migrate to other states for jobs in the textile sector. Thus, a robust textile industry policy could enhance job creation within the state.

The Chief Minister described the state’s representation at the World Economic Forum as a reflection of the aspirations of all Jharkhand residents. The state’s participation in the WEF was notably strong, with the government actively engaging and attracting investors through effective strategies and positive discussions with various international industrial institutions and groups. This engagement is expected to lead to increased investment and job opportunities in Jharkhand in the future.

Soren emphasized the need for initiatives to create jobs for youth, enhance farmers’ prosperity, and promote women’s empowerment. He called for geo-tagging of megalith and monolith sites to gather detailed information for their development and conservation. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of promoting research, production, and processing of critical minerals, directing the establishment of a Center of Excellence in partnership with leading UK institutions. He noted the necessity for focused investment in tourism, food processing, IT, electronics, automobile, EV components, and the textile industry, urging the formulation of simple, effective, and attractive action plans to encourage investment in these sectors.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Vandana Dadel, Principal Secretary of Higher Education and Technical Department Rahul Purwar, Secretary of Industries Arwa Rajkamal, Secretary of Finance Prashant Kumar, Secretary of Information Technology Mrs. Pooja Singhal, Secretary of Tourism Mukesh Kumar, and Special Secretary of IPRD Rajiv Lochan Bakshi, among others.
