Jharkhand Revenue Staff Strike in Protest of Inspectors Murder

Revenue staff in Jharkhand strike to demand justice for inspector Lakshmikant Munda, highlighting security concerns for officials.

Ranchi, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, a wave of anger has erupted among revenue officials following the murder of Lakshmikant Munda, a revenue inspector in the Argoda block. In response to this tragic event, revenue personnel across the state are participating in a one-day pen-down strike, demanding the immediate arrest of the killers and enhanced security for their colleagues.

This statewide protest has paralyzed essential administrative functions, including land mutation, surveying, and certificate issuance at all district revenue offices and land reform offices. As a result, ordinary citizens traveling from remote areas are facing significant hardships.

Leaders of the Jharkhand State Revenue Inspector Association, including Chief Patron Bharat Sinha and General Secretary Durgesh Munda, issued a joint statement confirming that revenue inspectors and field staff are united in this movement. They warned the state government that their struggle will continue until the perpetrators of Munda’s murder are apprehended and robust safety measures for revenue personnel are established.

The association further stated that if the police and administration fail to take swift and decisive action, they will be compelled to escalate their protest to an indefinite strike. Following the conclusion of Thursday’s strike, a high-level emergency meeting will be convened to finalize plans for further action.

Lakshmikant Munda, known for his dedication, was murdered on October 24 at his residence in Namkum, Ranchi. Authorities found signs of blunt force trauma on his head, and both the CCTV DVR and his mobile phone were missing from his home. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this case.
